Did You Know That Bullying Affects A Child’s Mental and Physical Health? Sat, 24 Jun 2017 16:07:48 +0000 As parents, it is up to us to be aware of all of the negative elements that may be affecting our children, and bullying both at school and at home is one of the most common issues. According to research, 47% of Canadian parents have a child who is bullied. Now, we must not only worry about bullying in school, but we must also monitor a child’s use of the Internet to make sure that they are not being cyberbullied.

Unfortunately, children who face bullying online or amongst their peers can grow up feeling degraded and develop low self-esteem. No matter the age, when a person is faced with such negative social situations, the body and mind take a toll. It is important to recognize the signs of bullying early and find solutions for your children. Otherwise, the impact of bullying on an individual can last a lifetime and lead to many health issues, including:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Increased risk of suicide
  • Increased risk of developing allergies
  • High blood pressure and heart disease
  • Pain and fatigue
  • Disrupting the digestive system

If a child you know faces bullying on a regular basis, you should share the shocking mental and physical health consequences of bullying and help find a strategy to put an end to this awful problem wherever it is taking place.
